Melody Kiella will co-present during this DRI webinar geared towards providing a core breakdown of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration rules and regulations for attorneys new to trucking. The program will provide an easy-to-digest review of “Hours of Service” regulations, driver logs, driver qualifications, mandated drug and alcohol testing, vehicle inspection, and other federal rules applicable to commercial drivers. She will also discuss FMCSA recordkeeping requirements and what documents are necessary to evaluate and defend a trucking case properly.

Melody Kiella specializes in and handles all aspects of civil litigation, representing individuals, corporations, and insurance companies in connection with a broad spectrum of legal matters. Ms. Kiella’s practice includes general liability and insurance litigation, transportation/trucking law, personal injury, premises liability, product liability, catastrophic injuries, construction litigation, and commercial litigation. Ms. Kiella has extensive experience in managing files from the pre-litigation stages through trial. Her experience includes interviewing witnesses, preparing discovery, taking and defending depositions, preparing dispositive and other motions and briefs, participating in oral argument and hearings, and preparing for trial. Ms. Kiella currently serves as Social Media Chair and DRI for Life Liaison for the DRI Trucking Steering Committee.
Michael K. Woolley is the Senior Claims Attorney involved in overseeing the management of litigation at Canal Insurance Company. Canal is recognized in the industry as a stable, responsive, and financially strong insurer with 75 years of experience in the transportation insurance industry. Prior to joining Canal, he was the General Counsel at Cardinal Logistics Management Corporation, a motor carrier headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Associate General Counsel with C.R. England. Mr. Woolley was a shareholder with the Salt Lake City law firm of Richards, Brandt, Miller & Nelson, where he litigated, among other things, tractor-trailer accidents. He served as a judicial law clerk to the Utah Supreme Court and the United States District Court, District of Nevada. He is a graduate of the University of Utah College of Law and the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University.
