On Thursday, January 21 from 11:00-12:30pm, Douglas Burrell will be discussing recruiting on a panel titled "Embed Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Principles into Recruiting Systems at Midsize Law Firms," This panel will assist in learning how to attract candidates from underrepresented groups and removing bias from recruiting systems for junior lawyers and lateral hiring.
On Thursday, February 24 from 11:00-12:30pm, J.C. Roper will discuss retention on a panel titled, "Build a Culture of Inclusion to Retain High Talent at Midsize Law Firms." Retention of lawyers from underrepresented groups is heavily influenced by inclusion. Inclusion is made up of the day-to-day behaviors of senior executives and partners as part of the firm's culture. The panel will provide insight and tactics used by successful firms in setting targets and increasing representation.
Douglas Burrell believes that his primary focus is to be a strategic partner with his clients. It is important that he understands his client's business, the people, the problems faced, and budgetary constraints that can impact the client's ability to resolve problems. Douglas has been a practicing trial lawyer for over 24 years. He developed comprehensive experience while serving as first chair on more than 40 jury trials and more than 100 bench trials. He has also taken and defended hundreds of depositions.
J.C. focuses his practice in workers’ compensation defense litigation representing corporations, employers, insurers, and self-insured corporations. J.C. has substantial trial and appellate experience before the State Board of Workers’ Compensation throughout the state of Georgia and in all Georgia state courts, representing Fortune 500, Fortune 1000 and small-medium sized businesses defending workers compensation claims, including defense of auto manufacturers, county and municipal governmental entities, international airline catering services, aircraft part manufacturers, trucking companies,full service restaurant and retail industries, quick service restaurants, PEOs, staffing companies, hotel, hospitality and guest services industries, industrial cleaning services, nursing homes, highway/ bridge and road construction, general construction, sewer/drain and pipe construction companies, industrial contractors, and other commercial construction companies, workers’ compensation insurance carriers (across all employers/insured industries), third party workers’ compensation claim administrators, and self-insured corporations.
