The Daily Report Recognizes DEF's newly Elected Partners
The Daily Report recognized DEF’s four newly elected partners, who all happen to be women. Already partner, Jennifer Parrott, has been promoted to equity partner, while Vivian Fisher, Whitney Lay Greene and Melody Kiella have been announced as partners.
The Daily Report article highlights our firm’s first ever partnership class composed of all women. “Drew Eckl’s partnership did not overtly aim to elect an all-female class, said the Atlanta firm’s managing partner, Joe Chancey, but it does point to an increased focus, as at many firms, on supporting women lawyers. ‘We do a good job hiring really talented lawyers, but, like most in the industry, we’ve seen more attrition than we’d like—and especially with our senior female associates,’ he said. ‘We definitely identified that we wanted to do a better job of providing support for our women lawyers,’ he said.”
The article goes on to highlight Jennifer Parrott’s non-traditional path to partnership. Parrott took a 7-year hiatus early in her career to raise her daughter Hannah, now 13. “When Parrott was ready to return to law in 2013, she didn’t think a partnership-track job was an option after her long hiatus. She called the Drew Eckl partner she’d worked under, Bruce Taylor, for a job reference. He encouraged her to come back instead. ‘Drew Eckl let me on-ramp before on-ramping was a thing, to ease my way back into practicing,’ Parrott said.”
Jennifer Parrott is an experienced civil litigator, focusing her practice on transportation/trucking law, general liability, personal injury defense, premises liability, products liability, and commercial litigation. Jennifer handles cases involving complex liability, catastrophic injury and wrongful death claims. She also handles less complex matters for her clients efficiently and cost-effectively. Jennifer advises clients at every stage of the litigation process from pre-suit investigation and liability analysis through lawsuit and trial. She counsels clients in the areas of risk management and national litigation management.
Vivian is a senior associate in the firm’s Collection Law and Commercial Law groups. Her practice focuses on the financial services industry where she represents banks, credit unions, and other financial institutions in workouts and loan restructurings, loan portfolio purchases and sales, due diligence investigations in connection with the acquisition and disposition of assets and liabilities, collection compliance standards, non-judicial foreclosures and confirmation proceedings, and the administration and disposition of REO property.
Whitney Lay Greene is an experienced civil litigator, practicing primarily in the general liability field. She handles matters in the fields of transportation/trucking law, premises liability, and products liability in both state and federal courts all over Georgia. Although Whitney prides herself on her ability to assist clients with matters large and small, she focuses her practice on cases with complex liability and medical causation issues, including catastrophic injury and wrongful death claims.
Melody Kiella is an experienced litigator specializing in all aspects of complex civil litigation. She represents clients in connection with a broad spectrum of legal matters, including transportation/trucking law, personal injury, premises liability, negligent security, mold damage and exposure, catastrophic injuries, commercial litigation, breach of contract, and general liability.
