Matthew Jones joined as an Associate in 2011 after clerking with the firm for two years. His practice is focused in civil litigation defense with an emphasis in General Casualty Law, Professional Malpractice and Healthcare Litigation. He has a strong background in defending a variety of general liability claims for nationally recognized companies, ranging in size from small businesses to Fortune 500 corporations. He has handled cases involving products liability, premises liability, food borne illness, personal and bodily injury, insurance coverage, automobile liability, commercial transportation and wrongful death. In addition, Mr. Jones has also gained extensive experience representing professionals in malpractice claims.
Mr. Jones has participated in both jury and bench trials, taken numerous depositions and attended multiple hearings. He has also successfully handled appellate matters where favorable trial court orders have been upheld.
Mr. Jones has researched and co-authored a number of papers and speeches for CLE presentations throughout Georgia on such topics as tort litigation, the use of expert witnesses, defense trial tactics, and evidentiary issues. He is currently the Committee Chair for the William W. Daniel National Mock Trial Competition hosted by the State Bar of Georgia, Young Lawyer's Division and serves as a coach for the Georgia State College of Law mock trial team.
While in law school, Mr. Jones was a member of the Law Review, Student Trial Lawyers Association, Moot Court Board and Logan E. Bleckley Inn of Court.
