J.C. Roper is a partner in the Atlanta office of Drew, Eckl & Farnham, LLP. He is a graduate of Samford University. While at Samford, Mr. Roper was a three year starter and four year letterman, culminating his career as a member of the NCAA, national semi-finalist football team. He then attended Cumberland School of Law where he received a J.D., participating in Moot Court and Parham Williams Trial Competitions. Mr. Roper specializes in workers' compensation defense litigation representing employers, insurers and self-insured corporations. He has tried numerous cases before the State Board of Workers' Compensation, argued appeals in Superior Courts, and defended claims through the state Supreme Court level. Mr. Roper is a 2008 Nominee of the FCDR On The Rise Award and 2007 Nominee for the Top 40 Attorneys Under 40 Atlanta Business Chronicle. Mr. Roper is a frequent speaker and author on workers' compensation topics. He is a member of the Georgia State Bar Association, Georgia Defense Lawyers Association, Atlanta Bar Association and Gate City Bar Association. On the national level, he serves as an editorial board member of the National Bar Association's Healthcare Law Committee. Mr. Roper served as Publications Vice-Chair of Defense Research Institute's Workers' Compensation Committee and currently serves as a Workers' Compensation Steering Committee member. He has also served as past Vice-Chair and is the current Chair of Defense Research Institute's Diversity for Success Seminar and Corporate Expo Planning Committee in Chicago, IL. Mr. Roper is also a member of the America Bar Association's Workers' Compensation and Tort Trial Insurance Practice Committees.
Recent Publications: Mr. Roper is a frequent author and recently co-authored "The Continuing Continuance: A Claimant’s “Right” to Continue in Perpetuity--A Look at Georgia and Illinois Legislation Addressing Dismissal of Workers’ Compensation Claims and Hearings" published by For the Defense in 2007. In 2008, the American Bar Association published Mr. Roper's article entitled "Illegal Aliens’ Entitlement to Workers’ Compensation Benefits: Employer/Insurers Scramble for a Defense". In 2009, The National Bar Association published "All in the Family- A Look at a Spouse’s Right to Payment for Home Healthcare Services Rendered to an Injured Spouse under the Georgia Workers’ Compensation Act."
