JOHN A. FERGUSON JR. is a partner with the Atlanta law firm of Drew, Eckl & Farnham, where he practices in the area of workers' compensation law. He received his B.A. degree with distinction from the University of Virginia in 1973 and his J.D. degree from the University of Georgia in 1976, where he was research editor of the Georgia Law Review. Mr. Ferguson is a member of the American Bar Association Section of Tort and Insurance Practice, the Atlanta Bar Association Litigation Section and the Workers' Compensation Section. He was the 1989 Chairman of the Workers' Compensation Section of the State Bar of Georgia. He is also a member of the Lawyers Club of Atlanta, the Defense Research Institute and the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association. In addition, Mr. Ferguson currently serves on the Chairman's Advisory Council for the State Board of Workers' Compensation (2002-2009 Self-Insurance & Licensure Committee, 1992-1993 Chairman of the Legislation & Rules Committee), and was the 1998-2000 Chairman of the Workers’ Compensation Committee of the Atlanta Claims Association. He is also a co-author, along with H. Michael Bagley, of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce Workers' Compensation Desk Manual Seventh Edition (2009).
